The Greenery that is so characteristic of Assam – especially the Banana trees, Coconut trees, Devdaru trees and the betel nut palm trees. Here are a few I captured. These tall trees sometimes obstruct the low electric poles and wires.
The local name of this bushy flowering plant is NAYANTARA. The scientific name of Nayantara is Catharanthus roseus and it is from the family Apocynaceae. The English common name of this plant is Rose Periwinkle, Old-Maid or Madagascar Periwinkle.
